The Covid man

WHAT'S UP FRIENDS. My name is Elder Slavens. Call me The Covid Man. I'll just say it was a wild week. Many things happen, many things also don't happen. Wonder what that means? I can tell you if you ask politely. Say please. Ok good thing you said please or else I wouldn't tell you. Let us begin. 

Alright so the beggining of this week was good. One of my missionary buddies went home so we got to hang out a lil on pday and say bye to other missionaries. It was fun but sad. We went to the same appartment complex I used to live at in Queen Creek. Little did we know people there were sick and a couple were tested positive with Covid. Cool right! On top of that a few days earlier we were knocking doors and a member came out put his hands on our shoulders and said, "Hey my son has covid, come back later?" We said, "Umm ok, we have Covid too now." We didn't think we did but then we went to encentada as well and yeah good times. So we told the nurse and she said, "Yeah you gotta quarantine and lockdown". Sad for us. We locked down and then we got a few symptoms. So my nose is wack. I can smell fine but some foods smell acidic and like spicy. Hard to explain but true. Here is a list of spicy acid foods:

Ketchup 

Ranch 

Canes sauce 

Panda Express orange chicken

white bread 

wheat bread 

Canes texas toast

As you see some bizarre things smell acid to me. Elder Story is having breathing problems but like nothing is too bad for us. So we have been locked in and it sucks. It's like the first 4 months of my mission in Arizona all over again. Rip. So we have just been studying a lot and calling people and lots of that stuff. Yay.

Exciting part of the week is when the nurse said President wants you to go get tested. I guess everyone with symptoms has to go get tested but we drove and did the spit test. Not gonna lie I wanted the big stick one to see what it was like but oh well. So I don't know if we have covid right now but I guess we will find out soon enough. But besides that we still trying to survive. Also we have transfers this week. Story and I are staying together again but are geting a third companion. This is legit my 5th trio. It's getting crazy how many trios I am in. Not fun. Oh well I need to learn something once again. His name is Elder O'Conner but he can't transfer here untill we are out of quarantine in like a week. If we test positive idk what happens. I guess we will see. 

Well that's all. Don't go to the encentada complex, don't let ketchup smell acidic, don't get locked inside. Not super fun. I still love you all though. Bye bye have a good week.

have you ever wondered how to get your ketchup and orange chicken to smell like acid, I can most definitely help you do that. it sucks but it's fun.

Lo and behold our covid tests. The spit test was so wack but we did it. Crazy, you spit and you know if you have covid. Science is so cool.

Us right before Elder Heinhold my buddy went home. Sad times. 

We've all had some good times together. Enjoy home life.

District show and tell day. I brought bingo. I'm not that good at bingo but I said I was. 

We all had little items it was quite an exciting time.

When New Years and Worlds collide

Happy New Year people and friends and family and dogs and cats and antelope. I hope you have had a wonderful 2021 so far. Kinda cool it's already another year. So sweet, you know. Good for us all lasting another year, proud of you. 

It's been a wonderful new year for me already, not very different from last year besides people say, "Happy New Year" a little bit more than usual. Crazy how that works. 

Wait if you haven't ever seen it look up the video "When worlds collide" from Spongebob. Idk why it popped into my head but it's so good. Let me know what you think plz. It is high quality. 

Back to serious talk even tho I legit can't be serious my bad. So it twas a wonderful Holiday filled week. Everyone was also so happy and hyped cause you know Christmas and then New Years. It's a pretty good time. Tom the guy that was baptized in November, we meet with him every single week and it's the best thing ever. We are going through the new member lessons with him and he legit knows everything and is the best guy in the world. I LOVE TOM. But also we can eat at members houses in the backyard now so that's sad but its better than nothing so I aint complaining. Yay for Arizona. I used to not really like Arizona but it's growing on me and I am very very happy here. Congrats for me. 

On New Years all we did was hang out with some other Elders, go on a walk and see some fireworks then play some games. It is hard to have an exciting New Years or really any holiday on a mission. We hang with others but you are not gonna be partying and going wild. Life is always wild with me but you get it. We saw a live concert in someones backyard on our walk so that's nice.

We got buffalo wild wings. AWWWW. We got spicy stuff and since I ain't in Thailand I'm weak so it was quite spicy for little white me. 

Hey all you San Ramon people. This is Hudson DeWitt. He served in our ward in like 2017. He lives in Arizona and I got to see him and it was mega fun. Shoutout to friendships. 

This was us in the backyard. Fireworks all over and we just sat there going yay good fireworks in the sky. Happy year of twenty-twenty-one. 

Most of the district met to make a lil video. Here we are in picture form for you. Meet district 3B in the San Tan Zone. SO COOL. SO SICK. fun.

Oh yeah so my Momma has this thing when her children go on missions they get a little build a bear to be them. This is Honey my dog since I was little. Just thought you'd like it.

What is up my weekly email. I want to wish you a Merry Christmas a little bit ago. I hope your day was full of presents, the Spirit of Christmas, happiness, and no snow because cold stuff sucks. So yeah.

Well what a wonderful week it was. I love Christmas time. What happened this week you may ask. Let me tell you. It was a very Christmas week. We had a zone party where we got to watch this show called Johnny Lingo. I suggest you watch it. It's on gospel media I think but it's this mega old video about ugly people with a big plot twist at the end. wow cool. We had a white elephant and I won an avocado. So nice of my gifter. I gave a vase and some Elmer's carpenter glue. Very useful items. We also had a very good Christmas. We had a sleepover with other Elders and slept under the tree and all woke up and opened presents together. Cutest day of my life. Gotta love that bonding time. I got a lot of food so thats good for me. I also got a bingo thing so if anyone wants to play bingo hmu it could be fun. But also on Christmas we went to our ward mission leaders house Brother Openshaw, had lunch hung out had a fun Christmas time. He let me use a scooter for a sec and I got to utilize my 7th grade scooter skills. NICE. It was a very chill Christmas time. 

Also people are so receptive during this time. We have had lots of amazing Christmas lessons talking about Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas. Gotta love it. 

Well I am still district leader and I am good at it ngl. We have meetings every week and the first part we always just draw. I used to hate these meetings but now they are just fun. Yay. I also still shave my legs don't worry it's so good.

I love Christmas time, it is good time. It is almost new years. Have good days!

Welcome to our Christmas party. Santa was kind enough to visit us on our missions. So nice of him! 

My Christmas presents. Pants are Spongebob and that is so typical of me. If you know the shirt reference plz text me cause that's my 5th favorite movie.

Our zone party. At this zone party we also played uno and I won and was gifted a BTS calendar. I learned the BTS members are Jimmin, Jin, J-Hope, Jung Kook, V, RM, and Suga. My best friends. 

I 100% almost peed my pants in a lesson and had to run out straight to a tree and pee for like 3 minutes. It was dark and I peed on my shoes, only a little. 

Gotta love that family bonding. Shoutout to Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg. 

We picked oranges off this tree I only fell off into the neighbors house once. Ok it was funny tho. So I fell and the guy came out and I was like, "What's up? My bad. I fell off the wall". He said, "It's all good come back any time." What a kind man. 

We made a gingerbread mansion and it only broke a lot. rip house.

Merry Christmas time. I absolutely love Christmas time. Favorite time of the year and that's a fact. 1 it's a good time to watch good movies such as you know, THE GRINCH WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS. That is one of my top 3 movies of all time. The other 2 are The Cat In The Hat and Surfs Up. So if you are getting me something ever, don't get me the movie cause you know I can't watch it, but like a picture or something of those movies would be cool. Oh yeah, but also 2 because this is the time of Christ like c’mon CHRISTmas. Dang amazing how happy people are this time of year and it's all because of a little baby being born. I love him lots.

Well this week per usual was real good. We have been grinding still and working mega hard. Gotta love it. We knock doors, we can knock on members and people that have been talked to by missionaries before and are having lessons every day. We still have to drive a half hour to lessons but you know we still doing our best. Some cool things this wonderful week was when we went to a families house for quite a long time and sat in their massage chair, ate cookies, and shared a message all at the same time. How sick. We also ate chipotle in our cars at the temple and met this guy that talked to us for 45 minutes about how he has gone to heaven and walks with Christ all the time. It was fun but my chipotle was cold so that was unfortunate.

This week we also had zone conference. We were trained then had a big Christmas party and played these little games and I legit ran parts the conference. I was the hype man, I made all these announcements for the APs. I sang happy birthday to people. People texted me to make announcements for them because they were too shy. Happens. Good for me. I also lost my voice like crazy so idk how I am going to teach or do anything. How nice. 

Yeah so it was a good week and now its Christmas so I love that. Well I love you all and hope you have a very Merry Christmas. Have fun with presents and such. Bye

Dutch Bros has become an addiction. I love hot chocolate and drinks and warm and spending $3 plus a $1 tip of course. 

We are big fans of this Christmas stuff. We love everything about Christmas. From sweaters and glasses to Michael Bublé. We love it. 

PHOTOSHOOT ALERT AGAIN. So we went to a members house and she was moving and had extra cameras I guess so she gave us these like $500 cameras so now we go  taking pictures. So good for us. 

All I can say is Merry Christmas. This is the new me. It isn't a phase. The true me wears blonde wigs always.

 Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year. I am back for email number a lot. idk how many it's been but it's lots. Alright so this was quite a good week. Lots happened, lots done. 

So we are grinding now. We are just knocking doors and working our butts off. It's the best. One day when we were knocking President called and asked me to be district leader so now I am officially important. Good for me. I am so mature, so good at missionary work, just a great guy. So now I get to do leadership stuff, have meetings, call the district, help them out, and train other missionaries. Lots of stuff and it's fun.  It's giving me more motivation and I am less bored so I love that.

Also this week we went to this lady named Linda's house. We had a lesson with her and it was very good. We talked about God and the Book of Mormon and a lot of our beliefs. It was really cool. Elder Story and I killed it. At one point in the lesson she reached into a drawer and grabbed a pack of cigarettes and said, "Watch this. Watch me be bad." She then just started smoking in front of us. Wow. That will be a fun word of wisdom lesson. But she is so kind and genuine and said she would be happy to have us come back and teach all of our lessons. YAY!

Besides that we are doing lots of service and stuff now. One day we cut down a tree and were putting it into this big metal crate thing and I just stood and was stomping and crushing trees for like 3 hours. It was the most painful experience of my life. Awful. We also got to go caroling to some members and they LOVED IT. So cute of us. 

Well it was a good week and next week will be a good week too. I love you and miss you all. Happy December.

So we went to this ward Christmas party and 2 people were acting as Joseph and Mary 

and this was the baby Jesus doll. They said please take this I'm done holding it. 

I'm glad I am trusted with the acting baby Savior.

สวัสดีครับ I am Tren Elder Slay and this is my email. I will tell you about my life and what's been going on. 

So we had transfers a little bit ago but still crazy trying to adjust to everything. We thought for sure Elder Story and I would be separated but NOPE so we still get to be together and I love it so much. I am still training him so I'm his only Daddy. My son, my cute son Story. I also just want to emphasize that we are finally back down to 2 wards. Like that was rough, not gonna lie it wasn't fun at all. Too many people too much to juggle. We had lessons and it was good but it was very complicated. So we are back to normal and have started to finally figure it out again. We already said we are gonna grind this transfer so it'll be sweet. Lessons every day nonstop work. Put me in coach. Yeah baby. 

As I said last time we needed a car like real bad. We called the APs maybe like 6 times saying, "c'mon when we getting that car" they finally said we can have one. They looked at a map and said, "Sheesh they do need a car". I charmed the crap out of those guys. We are car boys now. Also this week our district leader had to go home for health problems and it was real sad. But since we didn't haven't a district leader I legit took over. I was calling all these companionships and am doing district council Tuesday. Self appointed temporary district leader is so cool. They still need to call one but for now this district is mine. Power like a power ranger woo. 

Umm what else. I got to speak at church on Sunday about developing Christlike attributes so if anyone got questions about that let me know, I got you. That talk was wack. I legit don't remember anything I said. Words just spilled out idk if it was English or Thai. Oh well people said it was good. NICE WORK ELDER. 

Also I Iove Christmas so Merry Christmas. I asked last week too, but if anyone has specifically Christmas cards they want to send me, HIT ME UP. I love your faces. Well have a good week faces. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.

Hey, welcome to weekly email with Tren. This week was Thanksgiving and I am grateful for you. Whoever you are, if you are reading this, I am grateful for you and you have impacted my life. Love you, yay. But I love Christmas time and also Thanksgiving time.  This is a good time of the year. 

So shall we get started on how this week was and what Elder Sleigh did? Get it? Cause like Slay but Christmas Sleigh. Coolest thing I've ever done right there. Well yes let us get started. So it was a real good week per usual but like what happened? Not much at all. Sad and unfortunate for me. Well since I don't have a dog or horse or anything apparently it wasn't that cool.

Oh yeah, so we had transfers this week. I thought we would be separated but I am back to a duo normal companionship with Elder Story. Elder Mitchell got a new companion and I call him DD so that's cool. But 2 Elders in the house also stayed together but they moved to a different house so rip our friendship. I also am FIGHTING to get a car. We legit are so far from our area, our service sucks at our house so we can't do lessons there, because of Covid we can't sit in church buildings all day, lessons are hard to get to, and we have 1 car in the house which is the other elders.  But don't worry our 2 areas are only 20 minutes drive away. SOOOO easy. Kidding so yeah, we really need a car so I'll let you know if I can use my charm and get us a car. 

We had Thanksgiving this week. We usually can't go to dinner but we could on this day so we went to the Porter’s house. Just the coolest family ever.  It was real nice. Holidays on missions are wack but pretty cool yup. So that's about it for this week. Not tons. Story and I continue, we need a car, I still love naps. Well, have a good week. Meet the Porter family. They make very good Thanksgiving food. Very kind, very nice and a dog too. It felt like I was home. Cute. 

I love friends and I love their parents. This is Cole Edgren. Say hello. He is kind and is a missionary. So cool. 

Alright now this is good. So we were at a service project and I found this sticker and said, "Watch this" I then became Elder Food. It's nice to meet you. This isn't a phase Mom. It's the new me.

Well, welcome to an email from me. This week was good. So last week I told you about our dog Keeper. Well here is the back end of that story. So we had her about 3 days and we were like, "Ok we legit need to figure out what to do with this dog". So we called some rescue places and the only ones that were full shelters were out of the mission so we were like hmm bummer. We took Keeper to the vet and turns out she didn't have a microchip so we ended up calling an animal control place and they got it figured out and came and picked her up and took her in. It was so so sad. I miss Keeper lots. They were going to hold her 3 days then take her to a rescue so I know Keeper will find the best parents ever. I miss her and wish her the best of luck. I'll never forget you Keeper. 

So what else is happened this week you may ask? Well, missionary work of course. So we only have 1 more week in this transfer which is kinda crazy. Idk what will end up happening next transfer like if Story and I will be split up but I bet Mitchell will get a new comp and I will either be with Story again or get a new companion. Who knows. Exciting. But we still got our 4 wards and it's hard to keep track of everyone and know people so that's exciting. Elders in our house were sick too lately so we were trying to stay inside so it has been exciting times. But yeah a good week. 

I learned I love the stars, cool right? I look at the stars at night and I'm like, "aww cute". I don't get constellations but maybe I will some day. Also it's Christmas so this means that Chick-fil-A has peppermint shakes so go get one for me. Thanks. Also I love cookies and garlic bread. Just felt I should add that in there.
