Woof Woof Bark Bark

Buckle those seatbelts ladies and gentlemen because you are in for a treat. People say they like my emails, well this one should be a good one. Not being cocky but I just know my weeks and I know this was a pretty good week. 

One day it was around lunch time and I love naps. I decided to take a nap and 2 Elders in the house Burgess and Heinhold said, "Elder Slavens look at what we got, a new pet". I look and they are carrying a dog. I said, "Wait what, ok let me cuddle with her." So it turns out they were on a walk and this stray dog started following them. They were like alright sounds good and they brought it into the house. We all sat and pet this stray dog then I though hmm she is pretty dirty so I gave her a bath using old spice. She smells so manly now. We got her all cleaned up and since we don't have dog food oddly we gave her our leftovers. We had corn, spaghetti, and some pork and turkey that she loved. She ate up all this food and loved it. She was so stinky and nasty but now she is an angel. She is the boniest dog I have ever touched. Very sad. But we let her sleep in the kitchen and she only peed on the ground 3 times and now the floor is sticky even tho I legit moped up the whole floor. We are trying to figure out what to do from here. We need to get her real dog food, and a home. We took her to a vet to see if she had a little microchip thing and of course she didn't so they said either care for her or take her to the animal rescue shelter. As missionaries we aren't really suppose to have pets so we need to figure out what to do with this dog. She reminds me of Tivoli back home so thats fun. Besides that I hang out with this dog all the time. I named her Keeper so everyone decides oh yeah we should keep her. Clever eh? Well that was a long story but good story.

OK on a spiritual side TOM WAS BAPTIZED THIS WEEK. Woo baby. Tom is such a beast. We got to meet with him tons and then we had the baptism on Saturday. He had his friends baptize and confirm him and it was amazing. We got to teach the restoration of the Gospel while they were changing and it was the best I've ever taught that lesson. Good work Slay. Keep Slaying. So you can see it was a good week. 

Besides that we just got news we can't go to dinners because this corona stuff is getting worse. Sad. So we are in our house a lil more now but it'll be good we can keep working. If anyone has any stories plz tell them to me I don't wanna get bored. 

Well I hope you don't have corona and if you do get better. Also if you have a stray dog let me know that would be a cool connection we have. Alright bye.

LOOK HOW CUTE. So this is Tom to the left of me. He was baptized and he is the coolest guy in the world. I want to live like Tom. 

Meet Keeper. She is stinky and dirty, is a stray dog, has long nails, loves pork and wags her tail a lot. Good girl. 

I gave Keeper a lil face hair cut and she just laid in my hands. How precious. I know it's wrong but I may keep her forever.

Good evening everyone. So like nothing really happened this week so idk what in going to talk about. I guess I'll think of something I always do but we will see what happens. 

I am currently in a trio still. This is my 4th trio on my mission. I decided God needs me in trios to learn something. Apparently I haven't learned it yet cause this keeps happening. I'm calling it now I'll be in at least 3 more trios in the next 14 months or whatever I have left. Congrats for me.

So I guess a fun update last pday I got sweaters and jackets from thrift stores so I am less cold. Another fun fact I get cold very easy so jackets are a necessity.  Another fun fact Arizona was 90 all week then randomly now it's cold and its like 60. Many of you will say that isn't cold but it's very cold for me. I would wear 4 jackets if I could. Thanks for listening to my fun facts. 

Well this week has been a good one still. We have mostly figured out how to work our schedule with 4 wards. We split it so every day has a different ward so we can contact and talk to them all. It's hard to knock or call everyone so we text people in our wards a lot and we get a lot of responses for possibly lessons and service so it is very good. We have Tom's baptism next week which we are quite excited for. He has an interview this week and he is so ready for his baptism. Besides that we are working hard and having fun. Good stuff. Gotta love that mission life.

The sunset was really good and I said to myself, "I will take a selfie". So I did that.

Oh yeah we did this hike a few weeks ago. If you can find me I'll give you a high five in 14 months. Lucky

Man Arizona is just so cold

WELCOME TO EMAIL WITH TREN AKA SLAY. I AM TREN. HOW ARE YOU? COOL.

I feel like something crazy happens every single week now. I am not saying that is a bad thing, actually opposite because if nothing crazy happened I would get bored. I like crazy. I am crazy. Example: I ate a green crayon this week because it was a dare. It was non-toxic don't worry. Green is a good flavor. 

So this week Elder Story and I were having a good week when an Elder in the house got to go back to Africa, his original assignment and then we were put in a trio with Elder Mitchell. This is my 4th trio. It is like God needs me in trios. Sounds good to me they are fun. So Elder Mitchell is from Idaho and was originally serving in Chile like the soup. Don't worry it is not chilly in Chile he gets that a lot. He has been out like 14 months or something so that's super. We now cover 4 wards which is a lot and 2 areas that are not next to each other. It is a lot of figure out and do but it's real fun, you know.

This week I woke up one day with a little bug bite or something on my arm. I was like oh cool, and I of course was itching that sucker. The next day I woke up and it had a little red ring around it. It was not too big but people were like, "Bruv you gotta call the nurse". I proceeded to do that and she said, "Well that looks like ringworm but let's have you go to the doctor". Idk what it is about me and the doctor on my mission but I go there quite often. I went to the doctor that helped me know my wrist was broken. Cool. He told me I might have Lyme disease and I'm like, "yay". jk not yay scary. So they took my blood and will let me know if I got Lyme haha sweet. I guess I'll let you know. What an exciting surprise. They say it’s from deer or something idk I don't get it. Wish me and my Lyme body good luck.

This was quite the week. A lot occurred and some sad times but some happy. So Elder Story and I are trying to learn this area and understand it and find people to teach. Like I said last week we have 2 people on date for baptism but here is sad part. Dave is very busy with work so he asked to push back his baptism till around January. We are seeing what we can do so that is very sad. But Tom is a good monster. He is the coolest guy ever. We got to go to his house 2 times this week and have a lesson and eat good ol chicken. He is so ready like dang. He will be baptized November 14th and it'll be the best day ever. I haven't been apart of all of his teaching but still I am excited for him. 

Alright besides that we made this video this week for Facebook. We did like the kid History thing for the story of Samuel the Lamanite. That was my idea of course but my skin and hair didn't match the Samuel description so Elder Story took the lead. Rude but I am happy for him. 

So now actually cool thing we are knocking on members doors and introducing ourselves and dropping off cute pictures of us. We can knock on members doors and people in our area book that were talked to before but also we still like 30 minutes away so we only do when we are in our area and have to borrow bikes from other Elder cause we don't got those. cool.

Finally this week some missionaries learned they get to go to their original assignments and I actually got mad and was like ok what about me, but then I realized God needs me here for some reason. Idk what it is but I've been here 7 months and may be here 2 years who knows. I need to he here and live it up. Cute of me right. Well I had a great week hope you did too. Love you bruv. Bye friend

The story of Slay and Story

Welcome to this weeks edition of The story of Slay and Story. We are companions and we are cool guys. If you don't believe me just ask me and I will tell you that we are cool. I make that promise any time you ask I will tell you the truth, we are in fact cool. 

Well now that I just bragged about myself I will continue to talk about myself and what I did this week. It was quite a wonderful week. Since we are both new to this area we had to start from nothing and learn as we went. We have 2 people on date to be baptized in November which is amazing amazing. Their names are Tom and Dave. We are going to keep teaching them and help them prepare for the big day!!! Good stuff Elder Slay. 

We have been able to have some lessons and meet new members and it's been super duper. People always say names and I'm like yeah idk anyone so that's fun. Elder Story is still learning and growing. The lessons are more me talking but he is learning and it's getting so good. I love Story lots lots. We also had to give talks on Sunday so that was quite a good way to introduce ourselves. I killed it.

That's about it. We still live far away from everything and our house is so fun. Amazing missionaries and such a party, but also we love the Lord. Don't worry. I've learned a lot this week and missions are cool. Have a good week. Bye friends and family hope you enjoyed.

Oh yeah so we went to a members house and they had this little pig running around and it was like the size of a potato. They said it was 7 days old and already potty trained. Cool.

Yes welcome to my store. I help to do alteration to clothes. Yes pants, shirts, shoes. I will alter for you. Cheap price. Good for you.

But yes a lot of changes this week. So the beginning of the week I was with Elders Pierson and Palazzolo. We had good times. We are good buds. We were able to have a lot of lessons and dinners this week. It was fun. We also were able to finally go back to church for the first time. Basically every other area in this mission was going back to church for months besides ours. Very odd. But we went back and it was so so nice. We got to meet with both of our 2 wards and it was weird wearing masks and staring at only people's eyes not seeing a mouth but it was good stuff. I loved it lotsๆๆ aka lots lots lots

Ok here is where week was wack times. So Tuesday I was taking a nap and Palazzolo  taps me and says, "Hey President is calling" I had to wake up and get phone and he said, "Hello Elder Slavens do you want to train a new missionary." I replied, "Yes I would love to" "Thank you my friend”. It was a good conversation. I of course went back to bed after that. But now I am here and I am training a new missionary. I got him and he is a cool kid. His name is Elder Story and he is from Eagle Mountain Utah and was originally called to serve in Sydney,  Australlia. G'day mate. He is very cool and we are going to have good times together. 

I also got transferred and am not in San Tan. It isn't too far from Queen Creek but I am 25 minutes away from my area and where I am serving. Also I don't have a car so thats rough idk what we gonna do. Rip slay and story. Wish us luck. So now I'm training and we are new to area and its gonna be fun.

Hey it's me. I am writing this email in a house with bad phone service. at least it's not as hot in Arizona now.

not gonna lie I got good pictures this week.

This is Elder Erb and I riding our jet ski into the ocean of Arizona. The water is a little rough but don't worry, we managed. 

Welcome to service with us. We love helping others and love doing our part to keep the world clean. Get these weeds out of here. 

One day we were getting gas when I guy came up to us and just threw $120 in the car and ran away. We spent it all that day on 5 Guys and shaved ice. It was very very well spent if you ask me. 

This was for a Facebook post but it is just so adorable how could I not show this to you. Right?

Finally here is me and Elder Story. So cute, so young, so dumblit. You know what I mean.

Big 200 in that quarantine thing

Wow what an interesting week. Oh wait I told you last week I got a new companion. I guess it wasn't that interesting but it was a pretty good week not going to lie. I mean we had general conference so that was amazing. Jeez conference was good this year. It's like they are servants of the Lord speaking to us telling us things we need to hear. Cool. 

Before I begin my email Jackson my brother wrote me these lines to a rap. Here you go:

I wanna go to Thailand and eat all of that rice and then preach the people of our savior Jesus Christ.

It is true I want to go to Thailand and eat rice. One day. Nobody tells me anything but it's all good. 

This week was a big week. We hit 200 days inside. That is quite a long time. We didn't really have a party or anything but still it was wacky. Like 200 days. ahh. That means I have been in this mission 201 days. It only feels like last month I got here so that feels weird to me. Also this week we did like a ton of service projects. We got to paint a ton and I love painting, but when you do service projects you are dead tired so I was also very tired this week. 

Now general conference time. So conference was very good. We got to go to a church building with 8 Elders and watch on a tv. It was so so good. Like every single talk was so perfect and specific for today. If you didn't watch general conference I suggest you do. It helped me a lot. I really learned we are all Children of God, and God will help us in our struggles and hard times. That was good to hear. I also loved the talk from Kelly Johnson about the microwave. He was a mission president in Thailand so that's cool. I was like, "Wow I will go there one day". Nice. 

Well not going to lie that's about it. Not much happened this week and I don't know what to say besides I still miss Spongebob and I like normal clothes a lot. White shirts are cool and all but I love swim suits. Have a good week.
