ok huh what who how now?

Ok, well this has basically been the craziest week of my mission, or maybe even my life... Just not what I expected at all. I cried myself to sleep every night. Kidding, kind of.

So it started as a normal week with normal lessons until Tuesday night. It was 9:59 and we got a phone call. We just heard, "Reassignments." We were like, “What?” They told us we were both getting reassigned missionaries as companions tomorrow. I was told I was moving apartments and had to pack and leave by tomorrow morning. The morning came and I packed up and was ready to go when the other 2 missionaries in our apartment got a call saying they were leaving and I was moving to their room. So, I packed everything to move maybe 10 feet. Nice! I had to move all my stuff just steps away, then we went to get our new companions. Elder Hall and I were only companions for 2 weeks and now my companion is Elder Weston. He is from North Logan Utah and has 9 siblings. He's the youngest and his next sibling is 10 years older than him. Wack. He was serving in Brazil and now he's in Gilbert with me. At this point we did not have an area we were serving in, no wards, no sim card to text members, and no clue what was going on. We “whitewashed” our area which means we both are new to the area and having to figure everything out. We received 2 wards and then we just went crazy. We have been calling members for like an hour and a half every day getting lessons set up, and dinner to eat. It has been mega busy. We have almost 3 lessons a day and next week we have 4 back to back lessons almost every day. Stressed, yes. But really Elder Weston is a very, very, very, very, happy missionary and we get along very well. We get to study language together. He is learning Portuguese and I'm learning Thai but at least I'm not alone learning a language.

Besides that, nothing else has happened. I have learned I really enjoy tuna. Surprising, yes. It smells awful but tastes yummy. Canned tuna, mayo, salt, pepper, Wheat Thins. Prepare to have your taste buds dance. It's good stuff. I also made chicken and was scared I would get salmonella but we good. Also, we go on a lot of bike rides. Biking is fun but it makes your legs tired. I almost crashed 2 times this week. One of the times I fell, but somehow I jumped off and was still holding on, running next to my bike. Then I  jumped back on and kept going. Sounds confusing, I know. It's hard to explain but it makes sense to me so, yeah, sorry about that.

My mission is completely insane but it's still amazing. I'm learning and growing and am always confused but it's the best. Highly suggest. Love you all and all people, go on missions. Thanks. It's fun stuff. Now enjoy your week. BYE BYE

I love being barefoot more than anything and also I like to lay down. I could do those things forever.

Here tis me and here tis Elder Weston. Maybe I'll start calling him Elder Wheaton. But we love the church and we love helmets. They keep you safe.

We went biking and went to this complex. These two old fellers in the statue are the owners, I assume. They look nice.

I know this looks nasty. It was. One morning I thought maybe I'll eat raw eggs. Then I thought I'll add protein powder and milk. I wanted to puke when I tried it so, I decided to cook it. I thought it might be better. Nope, still super nasty. I wasn't sure if it looked more like ground beef or refried beans. Let me know what you think.

First picture together of the dream time. After this I made myself chicken and eggs. It was a good day.

Don't take google for granted

I realized this week how much I really do miss Google. As a missionary your phone has mega restrictions and one of those restrictions is no Google. I love Google so much, and now I don't have it. Use it while you still can. It's a great tool.

Also, I just really miss Spongebob. Someone, anyone, just watch Spongebob for me and tell me how it is and whether it’s good or not tell me it was great. Just sad times without my hero.

This week not much really happened. It was a pretty normal week. And by normal I mean just sitting inside because Corona stinks. Arizona is starting to open up and there is no more mandatory quarantine but we, as missionaries, have to stay inside until someone tells our Mission President to tell us it is good to go outside and teach people. I am hoping that is soon. I am also hoping Thailand opens up so I can head to there. I know God has a plan, though and I will follow what He needs me to do and where He needs me to be. I'm just hoping and praying something happens because I am a little bored inside sometimes. Not much happens. Sad.

We are still able to have a lot of member lessons. My companion and I cover 5 wards right now so we have a lot of people to text and set up lessons with. We have set up abut 20 lessons already and we have a lot more people to text. Exciting times.

Ok, so if you remember, I told a story a little bit ago about me dropping and shattering my phone. Well, today I went to a place that replaces phone screens just to see how much it would cost. I handed him my phone he said, "Yeah, that would be $140." I'm like, “What?” This phone was only like $170. Why would anyone do that? So, now I have to live with the cracks on my phone and the memory of the poor, dead bird I was trying to bury when it all happened.  I guess I’ll just keep this phone until it breaks so much that I can't use it and am forced to get a new one.  Sad times for Elder Slavens. At least the bird is buried and is in a better place.

Fun update. I ran out of conditioner so I went to target and got Dove lavender scented soap. It smells very good and let's just say I am pretty excited to shower now and smell like an angel.

Ok, I finally discovered my favorite thing ever this week; shaving my legs. I learned shaved legs are incredible. Shaving your calves is so nice. So smooth and beautiful. Shaving your thighs gets prickly and uncomfortable to sit down. I really feel for all the ladies out there. It took like an hour and a half to fully shave and it was awful. My legs get so prickly so fast but it's all worth it when I get that nice shave and just look down and say, "Wow. Are those really are my legs?" I truly suggest it to all men, women, and children out there. Ok maybe not children but you get it.

Enjoy life enjoy your week. Corona stinks and God is good. Love you all. BYE BYE.

Alma 13:28-29. Good stuff

It was Mont's birthday this week. Everyone wish him a happy birthday. I love my father. 13 years old never looked so good.

Shave 2.0 Top that. I got tired of using the shower to shave so I decided to shave and use the sink at the same time. I can remove hair from my legs and remove bacteria from plates with good dawn soap.

I made this to post on Facebook but you can look at it too if you would like. It's pretty good if you ask me.

Me and my Guitalele. Yes, I shred. No I'm not good.

Ratatouille Ratatouille Ratatouille

I'm sorry, but I have decided that I don't want to be a troll in Dungeons and Dragons anymore. Let me explain: This week Elder Hall and I went on a walk. On the walk I thought, "Well, I know he plays Dungeons and Dragons, let's ask him some questions." I started asking him things. He then proceeded to tell me every character, every weapon, tons of spells, the different game types. Wow! He also told me he is a Dungeon Master who makes the scenarios and games, so I had him make one up on the spot. It had to do with Goblins. In case you are not aware, there are 3 different types of Goblins all with different heights and intelligence levels. Interesting stuff. But the reason I don't want to be a troll is because I asked who the bad guys are and of course, Troll was at the top of the list. You can be a troll, but they are evil. So, I decided I would rather be a Wizard named Spunkers. His wand is made of pvc pipe and he sings when he speaks. That's me and now I will win.

So, as you probably can imagine, it was an interesting week. I learned a lot from my companion. I really learned a lot about missionary work, along with the History of WW2 and how cool maps are. My brain is overflowing. I don't remember my childhood anymore because it is full of Goblins and the Battle of Midway. It's complicating stuff.

But, to be honest, being with Elder Hall is amazing. I am learning so much. We work so hard. We plan every morning and there is no empty space in that schedule and we are always, always doing something. I got some free time this week to do a puzzle. I think I hate puzzles. It took me like 3 hours and I got the boarder done. Like are you kidding? I am now so determined to finish that 1000 piece puzzle how ever long it takes.

This week we also got some crazy changes from our President. We have less outside time and I have less language time and we have mission devotional calls every day now. Wacky!  But we are just going so hard and I need a nap constantly. I am always tired but,  “Power through, Elder Slavens!” And finally this week we went to the Church and had a photo shoot. I hope you enjoy the photos. I know I do.

Ok, so yeah, this week went fast and I did a lot, but it was great and I hope yours was just as good. Thanks for tuning in.

If anyone knows how Dungeons and Dragons works please help me understand better thanks.

I just like Ratatouille. That's all.

Ok, so I took this photo the night before I was transferred last week. I hated it, but I am confident about my body even though I have a big neck or something in this photo. I didn't like it, but I have accepted it. Laugh if you want. I did.

Here are 3 pictures from our photo shoot. If you would like more email me. This is truly some good content. I love this book and so should you.

We went on a walk and I saw this swing set and I said, "We have to go on those swings." As you can see from this photo we did go on the swings and it was the most fun I've had in 13 years.

One day we decided to go on a walk. Man, Elder Hall loves to make his own path. We were walking through bushes and sand and dirt and rocks. I was like, "What is happening? Where are we?" We finally got to the end and it was just more dirt but I thought, “Ok, we can talk a photo.” So, we did and then we headed back through more bushes.

Home -> apartment I cry

Well I was going to write this email and say this week was pretty boring and not much happened but boy was I wrong.
This week we had transfers on Wednesday, so Tuesday night we just thought, "Let's go get some ice cream real quick." We drove to McDonald's and then I got a message and it said I was being transferred. I didn't think at all that I would be getting transferred but plot twist, I'm out of here. I lived in the same house for only 7 weeks. I got here a little early from the MTC and made it 1 transfer and now I'm in a little apartment in Queen Creek, Arizona. It's actually not that bad. It's a lot smaller than my house and we sadly don't have a gym tho. I am with 3 new Elders I have never met before. My companion is Elder Hall. He is from Kansas has 6 brothers and loves Dungeons and Dragons. Another companion who is very different from me. I am excited to see what I learn from him and to talk about what level he is in his mind game. Exciting stuff. Maybe I will play a game with him. I will be a buzzed troll named Garthatron. I have sharpies for fingers and stain everything I touch. When I speak I yell. I know I will win Dungeons and Dragons. But now I am in a new apartment and I am not sure how long I will really be here. We have 67 new reassigned missionaries coming in this next 6 weeks. A lot of missionaries who were sent home and are being sent out now and we get 67 this transfer. This means we could be changing companions any time this transfer. Crazy. Fun stuff.

Also this week we had to say goodbye to Elder Hunter. He was the other Elder in the house with us from American Samoa. We got  along really well and we always danced. You look at us and we are dancing. I guess you can say it's a talent of ours. Anyway he actually made it his 24 months. He had a cough so they didn't send him home and Samoa was closed so he is now being sent to Utah with his Aunt until Samoa opens back up. It was sad to see him leave. I'll miss that big huge strong boy.

We also had the opportunity to do a couple service projects this week. We have to get them approved but it was so nice to get out of the house. I got to weed wack for like 3 hours each service and I loved it. I think I am addicted to weed wacking. If you ever need anyone to wack some weeds for you, I'm there. Just give me 2 years and I can help.

Besides that not much really happened. We were able to teach a lot of lessons to members and I was able to teach more friends. Yay for missionaries! I am also very excited to meet people in my new area and learn from this new Dungeons and Dragons man. It will be an interesting transfer that's for sure.

I love you all quite a lot and hope you have a mega super good week. Someone eat an acai bowl for me. Thanks. I miss those. Now bye bye my fans.

อพาร์ตเมนต์นี้มีกลิ่นเหมือนโรงแรมแปลก แต่ผมคิดว่าผมชอบมัน
This apartment smells like a hotel, weird but I think I like it.

Mosiah 7:33. When you read come follow me and find a really good scripture, you happy.

RIP Elder Hunter. I will remember you, will you remember me. Good song. Always brings a tear to my eye tho.

Service. Hunter was so happy to drive that mower and I was so happy to be weed wacking and have a buzz cut cause oh boy it hot.

We asked a member for Thai food and he hooked us up. It's like I'm in Thailand already wow. Also that member said my companion and I have the same voice. Idk if that's a compliment or what. Thanks tho.

A picture we took with a horse. Horses don't really care about anything. Like I would pet the horse and idk if he didn't feel me petting him or what he just wouldn't move or do anything. Odd animal.

We got drinks. That's about it.

My new and improved companion. He is actually a cyborg, half man, half robot. His brain is full of cheat codes for Dungeons and Dragons. I play against him and even with my character Gartharon and I'm screwed.
